This land was mad.
Real Life Hero slumped on the floor as he slowly regained consciousness. Whether it was the smell of the crowd crammed on that small bus or that same upbeat music ringing in his ear that helped him remember it didn’t matter.
There was no sun and he felt different. But he remembered…Was this really happening?
He dragged himself through the crowd, his head pounding. Was he drugged? Who would do such a thing and why?
Winged humans in figure-hugging costumes and blue banana-looking beings burst into dance just as suddenly as they jumped off the bus and disappeared in the land below, scurrying like animals.
Real Life Hero felt the sudden need to thank the bus driver. Then he jumped. His heart fluttered like a bird trapped in a cage, but soon an image flashed in his mind’s eye. It was the image of a tentacle creature made of steel. It would save him. He named his savior the Tentacle Spider.
The Tentacle Spider guided him through the trees towards the house by the water. His feet crunched on the snow as he landed. This was different. He was different. But he remembered. The desert rocks, the guns…
First thing he saw was a shotgun. He grabbed it. He splashed a few cans of the fluorescent blue liquid that made him feel stronger and jogged on to explore. Another gun and more bullets and some green spray. He grabbed it all.
Inside the cabin he heard a magic sound coming from above. He hid his gun and pulled out his big pink hammer, smashing the roof with a few good hits. More guns and wood and grenades. Had he thrown a grenade before? He couldn’t remember.
Real Life Hero jogged some way away from the cabin and threw the first grenade. It missed the open door and bounced on the wall. He backtracked. The explosion was loud but the building remained intact. Not even the window broke.
Were these grenades worth it to hold as a weapon? He approached the building and threw another one. That is when he noticed the cracks on the structure. Maybe these grenades were strong after all.
The second grenade slid into the sea.
Last chance. He threw the third one. Same mistake. Maybe the deck was damaged but that was it.
He moved to the house.
A sound came from the sea. He ignored it. He could still hear something splashing in the water as he gathered ammunition. He couldn’t have more of the blue stuff from these little bottles he held but he found a keg hiding behind one of the doors inside the house.
He opened it and bathed in the protective power of the blue liquid when a gigantic shark jumped at him. Purple light came through the shark’s mouth and that one bite knocked half of Real Life Hero’s blue shield.
Real Life Hero fired a shot in the dark as the shark went for another bite. The shark missed and Real Life Hero run away, gun still in hand. He turned and waited by the nearby plant. The shark came crawling out of the wrecked house. Real Life Hero fired multiple shots from behind the leaves. Some bullets got him, some missed.
The shark swayed safely into the sea. Real Life Hero continued shooting. The shark turned and looked at him. Quickly he swam, dived and jumped at him with a big leap. Real Life Hero was now unprotected and hurt, but still with enough energy. He switched guns and took more shots.
But the shark was strong. He hid back into the sea. Real Life Hero kept shooting. The shark took another flying leap and bit him. Real Life Hero was dead. Again.
Until tomorrow.
