Fortnite Storytelling Episode 18

Real Life Hero flew above the crater-filled landscape and guided his sentinel towards the town hidden among the trees. His feet touched the metal roof with a thud. He used his sword to smash a small part of it and jumped down inside the building. The first thing he saw was a shotgun. He grabbed the gun, searched the green box on the table for ammo and continued searching the rest of the floor. As he searched he heard bullets hitting the ground outside. He jogged out to the wooden deck to check it out.

A shooter farther ahead at twelve o’clock sidestepped his way out of sight, another one was somewhere in the building. Real Life Hero could hear the enemy’s heavy boots against the wooden floors but couldn’t yet see him. He moved around, in and out and down the stairs to the first floor.

Muted shots sounded nearby. Two shooters? He thought. More footsteps. Someone running. This time the sound traveled closer and closer. A shot. Real Life Hero was bleeding, half-dead. He turned around. The shooter was here, on the stairs, next to him. He took a couple of shots with his shotgun, staining the floor with nothing but bullet holes.

The enemy ran away and Real Life Hero fled up the stairs in search of medicine. He sprinted away, bullets flying over his head. He could not take another hit, he thought. He left the shooter behind but then another enemy stood ahead of him, shooting.

Real Life Hero fired at the fence where the shooter was hiding. He chased the shooter around the fence, wasting bullets as he hit nothing but air. His enemy was as a bad shot as he was. He turned and sprinted away, being fired at from behind like a hunted rabbit. A very lucky rabbit.

He slid down one hill as fast he sprinted up another. Soon he was on a road, an abandoned vehicle beckoning to him. Should he take it? No, he thought. He needed to find some medicine, a med-kit, a spray, hell even some bandages would feel like a gift right now.

He ran towards the buildings leaving the car behind. He ran and swam from building to building. Nothing. Not even a fruit in sight to munch on and make him feel better. He found guns and ammo and even a whole keg of blue liquid that made him feel strong but he was still barely alive.

Finally, in yet another building search he found a medical kit inside one of those shining chests. He bandaged himself up into full health and headed towards the safe zone. The building’s automatic doors swished open and he ran towards the next building. Halfway through the open space he heard the swishing of the automatic doors. A gun-wielding pink-haired enemy ran out of the building straight at him.

Real Life Hero aimed and fired. He missed at first and landed a few shots just as the enemy built a wooden wall for cover. Real Life Hero kept shooting, smashing the wall to smithereens and firing at the enemy who was trying to get away. When he needed to reload, he switched guns, walking towards the enemy. Not his best shooting but he did the job. The enemy was dead.

But the storm was now fast approaching. He could feel the heat on his back. He sprinted away but when he spotted a med-kit on top of a building he couldn’t resist. He stopped and exchanged some berries for it. He was now caught inside the storm, losing strength by the second.

He jumped down the building, stumbling into a wall. He sprinted to the side and when he saw there was no quick way up the mountain he started building a staircase. His hands trembling and his heart racing, he had difficulty breathing. Building was not easy but he managed to climb up the mountain and slide downhill all the way to the safe zone.

He was still alive at least. He looted a nearby gas station and proceeded into the safe zone. Here, at the Rocky Reels he had to face the guards or so he thought. He gained higher ground by climbing up to a rooftop.

From up here he spotted a purple-costumed enemy but did not shoot as he aimed and fired at the guards. What are these guys? Made of steel? he thought as he kept shooting at them. The purple guy jumped off the roof next to him only to surprise another white-haired enemy from behind. Purple guy won this fight.

Fair game, Real Life Hero thought. He aimed his gun against the purple guy. The enemy moved fast making it difficult to take the shot. He jumped down and hid behind some cover. Real Life Hero followed him down the roof. On the ground he switched his rifle for a shotgun and took the first shot at the crouching enemy. Purple guy was dead.

Real Life Hero climbed back on the roof and scouted the area. He spotted another enemy walking around the town center. He fired, both hitting the enemy and missing. The enemy hid and the storm was once again approaching fast. Real Life Hero had to move.

On the ground he heard footsteps but ignored them. When he saw the bullets flying past him, nearly hitting him, he sprinted away to gain some distance. Then he turned to face his enemy. He managed a few good shots but the enemy’s machine gun won the fight. Real Life Hero was dead.

Until tomorrow.
